Spivey Consulting Group COVID-19 Update on the Impact to Law School Admissions

Spivey Consulting Group COVID-19 Update on the Impact to Law School AdmissionsSpivey Consulting Group

We continue to be asked from a variety of directions, both from schools and from applicants, about how COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will impact law schools, particularly as it relates to law school admissions.

First, we will note that the March LSAT in China has been cancelled. Additionally, GRE and TOEFL administrations have been postponed in mainland China as well as some local test sites in other Asian countries through the end of March. If you are registered for an upcoming LSAT, GRE, or TOEFL, please check your test center for updates. Unless there are further cancellations of test administrations, we do not believe the March cancellations will impact admissions results for applicants in Asia, and we are confident that COVID-19 will not affect how law schools will review international applications.

Second, behavior regarding the virus is very reactive right now, and some schools are choosing to be exceptionally cautious. While we cannot predict what is to come, we do anticipate that there will be further impact on schools and workplaces, and potential cancellations of classes, large events, conferences, etc. as things unfold.

As a firm, we have no ability to predict what direction this will go, but we are monitoring it closely and will provide updates as we become aware of them. (3/05/2020)
