Program

Pro Bono Program

As a part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, our annual Spivey Consulting Group Pro Bono Program provides law school admissions consulting services to a limited number of selected applicants from low-income, disadvantaged, marginalized, underrepresented, and/or diverse backgrounds, completely free of charge. Now in its fifth year, the Pro Bono Program has facilitated free consulting services for over 200 applicants.

Thank you again so much for everything and all your support on my application process... sincerely. After speaking with so many fellow applicants, I now see the application process as another way to overwhelm and confuse the less privileged. Without this pro bono consulting and your help, none of this would be possible. Thank you so much for opening up the doors of opportunity and a better life for so many of us.

I just want to thank you. I never thought I'd achieve my dreams like this. [Law School Name] admitted me today and I still can't believe it. I couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you so much! I'm really lucky to have worked with you - so many opportunities are open to me that never would be if I didn't go to a school like this, and I'll always be grateful to you.

I'm grateful for Spivey’s pro bono services and proud to have made it this far! A huge part of my success can be attributed to your review of and suggestions for my law school application. Not to mention the incredible, practical advice you've provided. Once more, thank you so much for your kindness and support on my law school journey, it truly set me on the best possible path.

Personal statement idea generation, feedback, review, and editing

Help with addenda as applicable, including GPA, LSAT, and character and fitness explanations

Assistance with video essays, if applicable

Eligibility

Applicants who fulfill these requirements are eligible to apply:

1

Fully committed to applying to law school for the 2025-2026 admissions cycle and matriculating to law school in fall 2026

2

Come from a low-income, disadvantaged, marginalized, underrepresented, and/or diverse background

Selection Criteria

Selections are made based on the following criteria:

Does the applicant have significant financial need such that they would be unable to access Spivey Consulting Group’s services without the Pro Bono Program?

How would the applicant’s perspective coming from a low-income, disadvantaged, marginalized, underrepresented, and/or diverse background contribute to the diversity of the legal profession?

How well does the application reflect the applicant’s purpose, thoughtfulness, and commitment?

How significant an impact could Spivey Consulting Group’s services make on the applicant’s ability to reach their stated goals?

Please note that there is a preference for applicants who already have one or more LSAT scores on file or who are registered for the August 2025 LSAT. However, we understand that that is not everyone’s timeline, and we very much encourage you to apply even if you will not have an LSAT score by August. Applicants without LSAT scores on file are accepted to the program every year.

We do not evaluate applicants based on the relative competitiveness of their law school profiles.

We select applicants from diverse backgrounds, including all types of undergraduate institutions, geographic regions, cultural backgrounds, professional experiences, academic interests, and goals.

Timeline

What is the timeline for the Pro Bono Program?

No applications will be read prior to the deadline, and there is no preference for earlier submissions. If you are taking the June LSAT, please wait to submit your application until you have your LSAT score.

Spivey Consulting Group partners with numerous pipeline programs across the country with the goal of increasing access and diversity in law school and the legal profession. We offer both no-cost and heavily discounted options for assistance, including free admissions strategy presentations, free or reduced one-day admissions bootcamps, and flexible options for more individualized and intensive work directly with program participants and/or mentors.

If you work with a legal education access-oriented pipeline or pre-law program, please reach out to us, and we would be happy to schedule a meeting to discuss how we may be able to help.
